Hi all

Just wondering what tyres you guys are using?

I used some Golden Boy tyres a few years ago and they fitted under the front well, did not rub at full lock or going over bumps when turning.

Not sure what is out there and where to get them these days, any suggestions appreciated.

Regards
Blair

Hey Blair,

I have got tyres from these guys here before:

http://www.scootling.co.nz/onlineshop/scooter-parts.html?cat=93

I have used the 10″conti twists on all of my vespas but dont know how the 12″ would fit on the 501/502’s.

It would be nice to find some 12″ whitewalls at a good price that would fit.

I will have a look at the tyres I have for the 501 tonight.

cheers,

Jim

Hey Blair,

These are the tyres I have for the 501 – Cheng Shin 3.00 x 12. Pretty skinny but no problems with clearances.

Nice one Jim.  The Cheng Shin’s have the old school tread pattern I think suits the scoots… The 502 I want these for is a resto, so kinda sticking to period correct styles and parts.

Am going to try a couple of  Duro HF 294’s a go, through local bike shop.  $60 ea by the sounds.

Hey Blair,

Lets know how you get on with the Duro HF 294’s.

They look a little old school like the cheng shins.

I wouldn’t think $NZ60.00 is too much to pay.

cheers

In the end, I went through Scootling, my sources could only get one tyre, not two.

Scootling had a hard time finding any 3.00 x 12 as well, but now have the Duro tyres, 3.00 x 12.   They look fine, old school tread pattern, will get some pics together of them on the rim.  I used 3.50 x 12 last scoot, so if any thing these look a tad skinny, but importantly all good for clearances, will see how they ride.

Thanks for the tips and pics, the Cheng Shin’s look real good too, was what I asked Scootling for, might give them a go next time praps.
